COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). Course Information
Description Introduction to chord progressions, song forms, and harmonic techniques used in commercial music. Topics include modern chord notation and chord voicing.
Prerequisites Successful completion of MUSI 1301 Music Fundamentals
Learning Outcomes 1) Explain scale construction, interval classification, and chord spellings

2) Analyze and identify commercial music chord progressions using standard lead sheet and chord symbols and numbers

3) Harmonize selected melodies with appropriate chord voicing

Course Policies
Instructor Policies Students may email me at richardsoncc@lamarpa.edu. I will respond as soon as possible.

To discuss grades, extra credit, etc., you must schedule an office visit for advising. Please refer to office hours listed above.
Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success.

You will receive one free absence before your absences start to count against your grade in the attendance category. After that, EACH UNEXCUSED ABSENCE DEDUCTS 10% OF YOUR ATTENDANCE GRADE. Three lates/early departures = one absence.

Students must contact instructor with reason for absence by email prior to absence in order to receive an excused absence. Excused absences must meet the following criteria: death in the family, medical related emergency, illness. Any cause beyond this will be left up to instructor discretion.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
